She has developed her skills and knowledge working alongside her clients to help grow their business and enjoys the relationship this forges. Many clients in the retail/commercial sectors have taken up the opportunity to meet with Becks regularly to monitor their businesses more closely in what have been tough economic times. Becks really loves her role and the privilege that comes with helping others realise their goals and aspirations.
Outside of Work
Besides being a busy working Mother of 2 Primary School aged children (Emily and Reuben) Becks also likes to give back to her community.
In 2013 she took on the role of Treasurer for the Wairarapa Chamber of Commerce. She has been Chair for the last 2 years. It is great to have the opportunity to give back to the business community as a whole and to be able to advocate on behalf of businesses on the many issues and challenges they face whilst doing business in the region. She particularly enjoys her involvement in the Wairarapa Economic Strategy Governance Group.
Becks is also a Trustee of the Life Education Trust Wairarapa & Central Hawkes Bay, better known by Harold the giraffe. Our mobile classroom travels the region educating children in most of our schools. They tackle some of the "life" issues we all face such as mental health, health & wellbeing and resilience.
As an avid fan of grassroots rugby and how this brings communities together, Becks jumped at the chance to become an independent Board member of the Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union in 2016. After resigning from this role in 2019 she was promptly shoulder tapped to join the Governance team of the Wairarapa Cricket Association.
The final hat Becks currently wears is as a Director of NZ CA. It is a real honor to be able to represent these very successful accounting practices on a national stage.
